Pittsburgh has an incredible music scene - from the DIY venues in Lawrenceville to the jazz clubs in the Hill District to the warehouse parties in the Strip. But the electronic music production community? Scattered. Isolated. Making beats alone in bedrooms.
That's why we started PAUG.
The Problem
Making music on a computer is inherently solitary. You sit in front of a screen, twist virtual knobs, and hope what you're hearing in your headphones isn't garbage. There's no equivalent of a band practice where you learn from watching other people play.
Online communities help, but there's nothing like sitting next to someone and watching them work. Seeing how they organize their sessions. What shortcuts they use. How they think about arrangement. The stuff you can't learn from a YouTube tutorial.
What We're Building
PAUG is a meetup for anyone making music with Ableton Live in the Pittsburgh area. All skill levels, all genres. The only requirement is curiosity.
Each month we'll focus on a different topic - sound design, mixing, live performance, Max for Live, whatever the group wants to explore. But the real value is the community: having people to share work with, get feedback from, and collaborate with.
Get Involved
Join the mailing list below, come to the next meetup, and bring your laptop. That's it. No gatekeeping, no prerequisites, no pretension. Just people making sounds together.
